So a while back now, I wrote about my journey into cloth nappying at night. I hired the library and I tried them all. The options I liked best were the baby bare boosted to the hilt and the Motherease Sandy fitted with my close night booster, a Baby Beehind bamboo insert and a wool soaker over the top. I also have a Bubblebubs nappy in size large that I use with the close booster.
So how has it been going? Well, it’s been a bit hit and miss, but only on my part (and Aggie’s) not the nappies. A big issue was a fungal infection we just couldn’t shake. I thought by using single use nappies for a while it would help clear it up, but it didn’t. So we are back using cloth, although it only seems to be every other night. If there is one prepped and I am putting the night nappy on it’s usually cloth. My husband isn’t on the night cloth train and I am not always that organised with the washing these days.
I think this is because I am only washing every 2 – 3 days lately and I only have 3 nappies I like to use for night time use. I know. Excuses. Another one is that sometimes there is the wee or poo just before going to sleep and I then whack on a disposal because I don’t have another night one prepped. And the last hurdle is when Aggie outright refuses to have a cloth nappy on to go to bed and I don’t want to fight about it. It happens.
So, despite the setbacks, I have moved closer to my goal because I am using cloth at night probably 3 – 4 nights a week. I am happy with that. I am also learning and gaining confidence so that if I have another baby I will be at a better starting place. I think.
